Beartooth Pass road trip July 2011
« on: July 10, 2011 - 09:21:21 PM »
Was a nice day so took the Challenger out for a 400 mile road trip.   Had a good time, and the car ran well even at 11,000 foot elevation.   I used to do alot of summer skiing here when I was younger.   Still do a fair amount of backpacking in the area with my wife.

Great pics!! It's amazing to see how deep the snow the snow got. Looks like a huge wall of snow to drive through in a couple of pictures. The US has gotten alot of extreme weather this year.

Makes me homesick. I'm got to get back and visit my folks in Red Lodge. Thanks for posting the pics.

Yes, treeline is about 8500-9000 foot elevation.  At some of the higher elevations there is very little plant growth except lichen on rocks, with water seeping out of cracks in the rocks...my wife says it looks like when time first began.
