Spent the afternoon mocking up the intake(s) and fitting the valley plate.

That valley tray looks very, very nice! Were you serious about maybe making them?

Brad,

Looks like its coming along man!  Did you end up porting out your intake to match your runners of those Stage 6's?

Finally starting assembly! :woohoo: Muscle motors tolerances were darn near perfect too! Clearances were with in 2 tenths! Just a small hicup with the first set of rods .  ::)

Almost finished porting too! About 20 hours worth after roughing out all I could on the mill first! I did the intake as well. I raised the roof of both the intake and exhaust ports by .150" and matched the intake to the heads.

I'll bet ya a cookie you take off that fancy intake eventually and put somthing else on....

What kind of cookie?  :droolingbounce:    Yep it's just temperary, till I can swing the budget for EFI. I bought a STR-14 intake with the plans on converting it to a hidden efi set up.

FINALLY finished the porting  after 5 more hours today. I gotta say I'm sick of that job! :-\

Doweled the Milodon gear drive to the block and degreed in the cam! Next on my list is machining to fit the T&D rockers to the head. I hope to get that done on Sunday.

Well.... kinda disappointed at the moment! I went to install the T&D rockers and found out they screwed up somehow?  :screwy: The rocker arm tips are on the edge of the valve tip or just off of it!  :pullinghair: When I measured the distance between the center of the fulcrum and the center of the roller tip I got 1.625" When I measure the distance  between the outside edge of the valve and the center of the fulcrum I get the same dimension. Looks like they measured it then forgot to subtract half of the 11/32" valve stem. Then when they did the math for the 1.5 ratio they screwed that up too as the push rod will rub the side of the head and the valve covers won't fit either.  :banghead: It also looks like the angle for the push rod adjuster is wrong too?
Really frustrating as I shipped them the finished machined head  so they really have no excuses! They screwed up plain and simple! I hope they come up with a quick solution or it's gonna screw up Carlisle for me this year...after I just registered the car and booked hotel reservations of course! :stomp:
I'll have to call them tomorrow and see/hope they come good for it! They send a gauge to use to mill the head to the correct height and by using that it looks like about .055" more needs to come off as per their instructions but no way that's gonna put the roller tip in the right spot on the valve tip.

Yes it is, but I'm not to confident of the tranny. It makes funny squealing noises when you back up when you first start it up. I " think?" is the torque converter draining back? but I'm not 100% sure. Not worth the risk at this point.
I just called T&D and told them of the problem .He remembered the cyl head so that's a good sign?  Talked to Sheldon and he said the pictures would be very helpful so I just about a minute ago sent him pictures and a link to the photobucket album so he can see the pictures in full size. I also made a drawing of what needs to happen dimensionally, so hopefully they come up with a quick solution!

I put the head on the block to see if the pushrod adjuster angle was wrong too. It is.... pictures are at full lift and on the base circle...

Corrected drawing I e-mailed to T@D.... I made my own roller rockers for my 455 Buick and they worked perfect....maybe I should have made them for the  451 too.... :o
