I personally never cared for the rental-car interior, but not a whole lot you can do about that...  My wife (oddly enough) also feels that even the SRT-8 doesn't have enough rumble to it - it just doesn't sound like the old muscle cars.  But I believe a Cold-Air-Intake and some 30-series Flowmasters would fix that quick for not a lot of money.

Other than that, I just recently met a SRT-8 owner after havin' some fun with him in my Viper just before the Carlisle show.  We stopped for gas and he said he loved the car - lots of room, modern features, but a lot of power and performance.

I say go for it!  Just don't stick it in the garage thinking it'll double its value in X-number of years - ain't gonna happen.  Drive it, enjoy it, and bring it to Carlisle next year ;-)  lol!

Great cars , I like to lower the stance with Eibach lowering springs .other than thaty go for it
the R/T with a few options is virtually as good for 10K less

I can't see lowering mine. I have already scraped the front spoiler going up a few drive ways.   :22yikes:  So that would make the front spoiler a snow plow in the winter.   :eek2:  Oh, I forgot you are speaking as someone that lives where it doesn't snow.

As far as the original post...Go for it!! The HP has been bumped up on the 392 engine, so I can't imagine the feeling.   :ylsuper:

Thanks guys. I went ahead and did it. It was a deal almost too good to pass up. Gotta fly to Dallas to pick it up next week. Toxic Orange with the grey stripes, loaded, 6 speed.
Now the big question what to do first? Cold air intake, new exhaust with highflow cats? Any suggestions?

viperman, I have had my trailer queens, this one will be driven.

Oh great!!   :woo:   :woohoo:

I have yet to see that Toxic Orange in person. It seems like a choice I would make from the Internet pictures though.

The cold air intake will add some spice to the engine compartment.

You might want to check out the Diablo Predator if you want more from your engine.

Diablo has not cracked the code when Dodge changed the encryption for 2011 to what they say is unbreakable and almost a year later seems to be holding up to their claim so scratch the Programmer off the list.

That is true. I have been hearing rumors that something is about to get done, but I have also been hearing this for the last 5 months.

Don't lower it.   It is a fad and I think it makes the car look wrong (don't know if getto is the word I am looking for but close).  The front spoiler can't handle much lowering anyway.   It was redesigned this year.   A cold air intake will likely hurt your performance as the stock one was also redesigned to work much better than the 08-10 model years.   The 392 6.4 litre engine is much better than the older 6.1 litre engine.   It went from 425 horsepower to 470 and gave it a much better low end torque where you would use it street light to street light driving.
I would think it would take a lot of work to get a 5.7 to run like a 6.4 litre.
The R/T would be a good choice if you didn't want to pay the SRT price tag.
I like the way the interior looks, feels,  and rides.   How can you argue with a car that goes 0-60 in 4.6 seconds and can still seat 5 people comfortably!

P.S.  I love the stripes.

Just my 2 cents

I've been thinking about an SRT8 also. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of deal did you get? I'm in Maryland and was thinking about getting serious in January-February time frame. I'm thinking I'll have more bargaining power in the middle of winter.

That's what I like about these cars, the room.  The new Camaro doesn't have a lot of headroom.  I'm only 5' 10" and on a good hair day my hair is touching the roof, also you feel soooo enclosed in a Camaro.  Mustangs are too tight fitting, cramp interior.  Both nice cars but I would prefer more room and comfort.  Also it's the only one of the 3 that fits 5 people.  :2cents:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

I am not so sure about lowering it as a fad , the ride & handling definatly improved sitting lower , I really like the look sitting about 1.7 " lower !!
