Paint job
« on: July 30, 2011 - 06:30:56 PM »
Any custom painters here?

I'm trying to get a richer/deeper (?) plum crazy color. PPG has one called plum foolish
but it's a bit dark, almost black without sunlight. I would also like a  two stage with single stage option
instead of the tri coat. Any suggestions?
If I cant fix it, it's broke

I'm very close to that using '95 Ford JA Sapphire Blue, but might be a little light on the metallic for you.

Now that's interesting Brooks, as I just googled your color and found ma bunch of blue cars.
Must be the monitor differences. I guess that's why the big paint guys won't post pictures
of their colors.  Nice blue, but I really want a deep rich purple.  At Carlisle , There was a charger on the end aisle
next to the e-bodies that had the color I am looking for.

I would dare to say mine was one of the "purplest" cars at Carlisle (except maybe 4C's). Plum Crazy/Inviolet is a great color, but when we were picking a hue, we wanted something with more depth.

Yaa, that's what I'm talking bout.  A buddy stopped by this afternoon and we made
a custom combo. I will post a picture of it tomorrow. I have to send the color board
to the paint store and have them scan it to see if they can custom blend it for me.

 Andy,
Make sure you get the paint recipe.
Whenever we mix custom colors at work, we meticulously calculate and measure each ingredient, and write it down.

You might be looking for a "blackberry" color
Are you doing metalflake/pearl?
I'll call and catch up.
