Kids responces when they see your E-Body?
« on: August 01, 2011 - 08:53:40 PM »
Kids always seem to like my old buggy. I think it's more the colour? ( Women too , but I'll leave that one alone...)
I took the wife out for breakfast this morning , just got Mc'd's and went to a park by the lake. It was a great morning with a cool breeze of the water! :2thumbs:
Anyway these bunch of kids( ages 4-5) all come running up to the car saying " WOW that car is faster than a Ferrari" and "Cool car!"  and stuff like that  :roflsmiley:.   When I fired it up to go home they all got excited and made a fuss. Kinda made me laugh.  :2thumbs:

You got any similiar experiances?

I stoped at the gas station yesterday, and the kid (maybe 16 or 17) behind the counter came running out and asked "what type of car is that?"  I told him and he said he had never seen one before.  :screwy:  :walkaway:

New guy moved in across from me and had a small party one Saturday . . . I think they were playing beer pong in the garage because the day was a little rainy.  Anyways, the rain slowed and I pushed the black car out of the garage to work on it and a while later, a young guy staggered up the driveway and said he needed my help.  It appears they had a little bet going and the girls bet that it was a mustang and they guys bet it was a camaro.  lol. I told him everyone struck out and to come back with another guess.  He stood there and started guessing . . . All wrong.  Funny I finally told him it was a MOPAR and the next guess was a nova . . . I did finally give in and told them it was a barracuda.  I assume when he got back to the party, most of them had never heard of that.

He says us as order car owners needs to keep the youngins interested or it will die. Couldn't agree with him more

Well, most that see my 'ol Challenger kinda look at it like a typical "Retro" musclecar. kids of course, don't even remember "Kowalski", even their fathers don't so it's hard to even tell them what it is being built as.

With the new Challenger being out, they do recognize it though, and I'm quick to tell them "This is the original" Challenger, not a copy like the new ones.
One of my boys friends even said "Wow, car of many colors"...Then, asked what size engine it had. Kinda acted disappointed when I told him it was "Just a little 318 right now", but perked up when I told him I had a 440 and 4-speed waiting for it..

I don't know about the rest of the world, but here in NZ kids absolutely love my car.

Once I had a couple of kids come up and talk to me as I was picking my girlfriend up.
The youngest, about 7 years old, asked what kind of car it was. When I replied 'cuda', he said:
'Cool! Got a 440 in it?'

I think that was the day I knew I had to have a 440.
Like Jay Leno says, you do it for the kids

I let kids sit in my car all the time when I go to car shows. Why not? They won't hurt it. If they do I'll fix it. They love to get in and have there parents take their picture.

I dont know for sure, but I dont think "older" cars are much noticed by anyone where I live. But you have to understand that bentleys and ferraris are an everyday common sight here, and todays mtv generation is wowed by that stuff.

In fact, heres a picture I took while sitting in traffic the other day. Thought it was interesting. I think it was the day after some ditzy blond crashed her bentley into 4 other exotics in Monaco. The toyota driver will probably come into some serious walking around money soon, from their "pain and suffering". I was surprised they werent lying down yet next to the car.

Back when I had my Javelin, people who knew just a little bit about cars were always asking if t was a Shelby Mustang.

For the Challenger, the most common thing I hear is "Is it for sale?"

"She'll make point five past light speed. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, and I've made a lot of special modifications myself."
