Cuda hood to radiator seal
« on: August 04, 2011 - 10:42:40 AM »
My 73 Cuda is missing its hood to radiator seal and while searching for one, I found that there may be 2 different seals for the 72-74 E-bodies.
Looks like there was one style for 72-74 with round push-in clips. See link: http://www.dixierestorationparts.com/product.cfm?pi=A6D7981A-A11B-905B-76932CCC54CA1249
The 73-74 had T-shaped clips. See link: http://www.dixierestorationparts.com/product.cfm?pi=A6D79878-02E9-8F46-040EB8F410490868
Does anyone know if there is any difference between them except for the shape of the clips? Which one was correct for a 73 Cuda?
Thanks!

73 Challenger...round black plastic clips
I thought the earlier style clips were metal...that's what came with the new hood seal that I didn't use.

The plastic T clips look like what holds the underhood insulation to the hood on the 73's

That's what I thought.  Both clip styles in the links he posted are plastic.  I've never seen the metal round ones.  My 73 had the round plastic ones on the hood to rad seal and plastic T clips on the hood insulation.

Thanks for the responses. So it sounds like the round plastic clips are the correct ones. I'll call the vendor and see if he knows something about it too.

You can also get the seals and clips from Mega Parts.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I looked at my hood and found an old hood seal clip still pushed into its hole. It's a round plastic clip like Burdar said. So it looks like that style clip is correct for 73 Challengers and Cudas. Thanks for the responses.

Dredging up a old post , but, researching for my 73 challenger and yes, round black plastic push in clips on mine also.
