I would say you got a good deal...on the L/F inner fender--is that a fender tag in the picture or a blank spot where the tag used to be?

Check the fender tag and see if "V21" is listed on it.  If it is, that is a very rare 72 only paint treatment for the hood.  If your car came with it, I would definatley put it back on.  If not, it would still look great and would break up all that red.

Here are a couple pictures of a 72 with the V21 option that was just painted.

The AAR look would also work on that car.  Paint the tail panel black as well as the spoiler.  The hood and tops of the fenders could also get painted.

it does say V21 on the first line

WOW!!! :droolingbounce:  I figured that was a longshot.  Very very cool.  That's a great looking paint treatment and if I were you, I'd have it reapplied.

What would the code be for the side stripes?  I see it says M88 for quarter panel tape treatment but I don't think that is the side stripe.  The 72 style side stripe would look good along with the hood treatment.

Also, get some red paint on that fender tag.  When people don't paint them, they stick out like a soar thumb.  The tag will be protected more if it is painted as well.

that V-21 is awsome I did not even know that was a option, and I have seen it before, now I know it was not just someone doing thier own thing. Is it the textured paint flat black like the AAr;s and TA;s.

Burdar posted a couple nice links for the V-21 paint treatment on the previous page.

I think we had a member with that option here long ago that was in Basin Street Blue (Petty Blue).

I think this was his car.

What did the tape treatment look like?  Curious minds want to know!

I poked around and found this site that lists it not only as a tape treament but also a "low deck lid moulding"?  Could be wrong....  :dunno:

The black paint is the same "organisol" that was used on the T/A and AAR hoods.  The Cuda tail panels also used that paint.

The side stripes on the blue car are the 72 Cuda stripes.  73 and 74 Cudas used different stripes.  Being a one year only stripe...and the fact that you rarely see 72's restored to stock, makes it a rare stripe to see.  I don't think the red car had that stripe originally.  The M88 I think is a pin stripe that follows the top of the quarter.(kind of how the hockey stripe did...but this one is just a pin stripe)
