As CODY pointed out in a post about the antenna configuration; anythings possible back then. Not enough documentation on what was used when and how many.
My car originated as a Gran Coupe made in Oct. 70. It had a 70 center console in it. I could easily imagine that non buckle bracing hoods on a 71' were used or vice versa. Likely used on prior production to 10/70 perhaps?
My Hemi is a 2/70 cast date block. No way it made it for 70 production. So it's an early production 71'. Yet has 71' over stamped onto 70' serial numbers on the carbs. D/S fender bolts are different mfg. markings than the P/S one's was another example on my car.
Beg, borrow or steal was a motto on the assembly lines then to keep things rolling along.
