Question about replacement wood grain panels
« on: August 11, 2011 - 10:50:48 PM »
I am going to order a set of replacemet wood panels for my dash from performance graphics. I have one small question. Do they come with the panel that has the bendable tabs that attach to the plastic, or do I keep that part and the new set just glues onto them

Thanks

It appears performance graphics offers both types, a stick on decal or a "complete new wood plate". I have only heard bad things about using decals,  while more expensive the "complete new wood plate" would be the better solution

I would steer clear of the decals if you can afford the real thing.  The decals just don't look as good, but they are MUCH less money.  I have an extra brand new decal if you want it... like this one....  $25

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

I am going with the replacement panels, My question is this, there is a a steel plate that attaches to the back of the aluminum plate, does that come off or does the new aluminum plate one glue to the steel  plate? Also is there someone who makes replacement knobs for the switches?

The PCG woodgrain plates come with the metal backing already installed.  They also come prebent.  The PG Classics and BEA woodgrain plates DO NOT come with the metal backing...you have to re-use your original one.  They also come flat and you have to bend them.

I've heard there is a slight problem with the PCG woodgrain plates.  They are a little too long where the gauge panel and switch panel come together.  The two pieces won't snap together correctly.  The PCG woodgrain plates are the closest original apearing pieces on the market though.
