Rattling Windows
« on: August 14, 2011 - 12:23:44 PM »
Hi Guys,

Was wondering if there are some common causes of loose rattling windows. My passenger side door window is brutal, rattles while driving and clunks when closing the door. My pass. quarter window no longer windes up and is also very noisy while driving. Any suggestions would be great.

Brian

What do you think happened with the quarter window Neil? It was working fine then one of my daughters rolled it down and it wouldn't go up again, Its like the winder isn't attached to anything anymore.

My DVR door had horrible rattles and the window was VERY sloppy.
I purchased a rebuild/refurbish kit from Roseville, it has all the plastic slider and stops.

I had the window out, all parts replaced and back in the car/adjusted in about 1.5 hours.

Not a hard job at all - I found some EXCELLENT posts on this forum, one had a link to the Assembly manual and contained 3 pages of info on removing/ reinstalling and agjusting the glass.

I have just read through all those links and a kit was mentioned, what does the kit contain?, rollers, weather strips and sliding felts we call bailey channeling. A figure of around $85 was mentioned is this for this kit? I need to overhaul my door windows to stop rattling and get one of the windows lining up a bit better.   :2thumbs:

The kit I purchased has only the hard plastic parts.
They are the stops, the plastic disks and square sliders  It also contained the small plastic piece that is used to secure the widow to the regulator.

There were no felts or weather strips...

I would love to find someone who could re-wrap my window stops.  The felting is starting to wear from being 40 years old.

Go to your local "dollar" store and get velcro strips. Use the fuzzy side and stick it on. Worked great for me!
