Billie's '72 Challenger Rallye
« on: August 16, 2011 - 07:00:46 PM »
I've spent about five months on my car so far, at this point I'm getting close to being finished with the body work. Just have to get the hood sanded down and painted underneath and get the springs cleaned up and painted before it goes back on. Then it's on to some fine sanding and touch ups on the grille and headlights. Then cleaning up all the chrome, I'm actually thinking of painting the chrome gloss black to match the car since the trim is in pretty rough shape.. lot's of work to do oh boy! here's some pictures so far..

Are you going to leave the tail panel between the tail lights gloss black or paint it semi gloss like you have the tail lights painted?

Mike at BE&A sells new three piece aluminum tail panel trim.  The price is very reasonable.  The only other aluminum trim pieces on the car are the grill and lower valance mouldings.  The rest is all stainless.  You can go buy some cheap buffing wheels and some compound and polish the stainless yourself.  You'll get the hang of it pretty fast.

Yeah I'm leaving it gloss black. The tail lights are hot rod black actually. Those, the hood scoops, and the grille will be as well. But I'll deffinate;y check that out I think a little bit of shiny trim would look better and provide a little bit better visibility on the road rather than all black.

Hi Billie, coo looking car!

Here's a program to resize your big pics, easy to use: http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm

I was curious.  What size of wheels/tires ae out back?  They look like 17" steel rims.  What kind are they?  Thanks!

Thanks for the info, I'm not sure what rims those are, they came with the car when we got it. I'm pretty sure they're 18's though. I've got a set of Rallye's to slap on there later on down the road.

THere's a guy over on Moparts that has a Demon with wheels like those.  His came off of a newer 300 I think.  I don't remember if they are 17" or 18" though.  I like the look of those.

Really? I guess they look pretty decent, though they would need some fresh paint. May stick with those cause one of my Rallye's doesn't match.
