Rear window louvers ?
« on: August 16, 2011 - 07:25:57 PM »
Thinking ahead , I like to do something new to my car each spring .As a high school kid I remember my brother had louvers in the back window of his Cuda . I like the way it looked . The only ones I found so far are pricey and made of plastic . I'm looking for some feed back or thoughts . Any louver guys here ?

If you think ABS plastic louvers are expensive, wait until you see the price of aluminum.   :22yikes:

For what it's worth, I went aluminum on the 70 Challenger because plastic didn't look right on an old muscle car.  I have plastic on the new Challenger...but might change that out in the future.

I have the ones Neil sells on my Challenger. I'm very happy with the quality of them! :2thumbs:The plastic ones,...... they just don't look the part? IMO  :2cents: Save up till you can afford the aluminum ones would be my advice.

Love yours Brad . Not sure about drilling the roof though . I have till spring and probably could come up with a grand  , but that's still a lot of $$$$. I would prefer it looked stock even if it did not come on the car . :clapping:

Ya I hear ya on drilling the roof. I must have measured 20 times before I drilled the holes. They were drilled from the factory on the originals too. I used nutserts and stainless machine screws. Factory just used sheet metal screws I believe.
I'm no expert but I think these represent the originals pretty darn good. Ya they were expencive but...... I just HAD to have them!  :grinyes:    What isen't expencive on our E-Body's!

they can be glued on with a high strength adhesive as well , nutsert is the best way to attach them
I have a set of the factory original louvers & you can barely tell the difference , if you look under the hinge where no one can see anyway there is a difference in the hinge casting , other than that they are a wicked repro , top quality & fit
