Congratulations/commiserations! Remember, as the old man used to say- "if it's got tires or t*ts, it's gonna give ya trouble". All suitable apologies to the ladies here, to whom it has no validity whatsoever. Hopefully, you got to keep the car! Just think, NOW you can bring the carb in to fix on the table!

Yes,I have the cars but that`s about all I have so I  may need to sell everything to keep from living in a cardboard box.

If your still employed a cardboard box would give you time to saver up 20% for a new home down payment, camping in the summer, Leave the cars with friends or family you can trust. Buy one of those 318 powered dodge camper vans for a year save all unnecessary pennies. Hide from the ex-wife. Luckily my work has a shower area.

I feel for you Jeff. I got Steamrolled by my ex before. We had to move and put everything into a storage. Then the sh!t hit the fan. We separated and I had a key to the storage also. One day I came to start separating everything. The storage was empty.  :faint:

Fought her in court. Judge wouldn't side with me. The storage was in her name.
So I lost every personal posession I ever owned except my fishing equipment and my fire box.

Thank god I hid the fire box in a different location. My fender tags and build sheet were in it. Along with valuble personal documents.

One of my last conversations with my ex, when she decided she wanted a divorce, went like this:

Her: we need to divy things up.
Me: Sure.
Her: My father bought the Subaru, so it's mine.
Me: Keep it.
Her: I put the down payment on your Jeep, so it's mine.
Me: All yours.
Her: You bought the Javelin for my birthday so it's mine.
Me: Take it.
Her: I put tires on your Challenger, so it's mine.
Me: If you try to take my Challenger I will kill you and your body will never be found.
Her: (laughter)
Me: Test me.

So, yeah, divorce was painful, emotionally and financially, but I am so much better off for it mentally.

Sounds about how my divorce negotiations went-

ex gets her 401k worth 80k+
I get my cars, tools etc. worth maybe 35k
I wanted an equitable split of all the other houehold items-furnituer,appliances etc.
her response-"but you get your cars so I get everything else"
me "you get your 401k worth twice as much-we need to split the rest equitably"
her "but you get your cars so I get everything else"
me "but we both work and bought everything else together 50/50 so it should be diveded 50/50"
her "but you get your cars so I get everything else"
et., etc.,etc..........  :banghead:  :pullinghair:
I now can understand why some people just blow thier ex`s head off!   :swear:

I really wish you well man, that sounds rough

Man having just finalized my divorce a few weeks back after 36 years and had a similar thing happen I know where you are coming from. My ex had a massive mental breakdown a few years back and wouldn't get help so she gets worse daily, she has lost the kids, grand kids as well. She ended up with most of household items but I stored Challenger and managed to hang onto it.    :2thumbs:
