Some are over 25 years old, so I didn't pay that much for all of them. Here we can keep them and switch them from car to car....I think 25 years ago they were still $75 bucks :22yikes:

An older one I seen years ago at a local show in Washington State, Plum Crazy Hemi Challenger had  MY-IRA. That was an eye catcher, never seen the car again.

Personally, I don't care for vanity plates.  Maybe it's because I can't figure out what they are supposed to say most of the time.  I like "year of manufacture" plates on these old cars.  I lucked out and found the original plate # on the original title to my car.  Then I had repop plates made.

Original 72-74 Iowa plate on top.(not original to the car) Repop plate on the bottom with numbers that were found on original title.  Not an exact copy by any means but the fact that the numbers are correct is why I went that route.

I asked the DMV and as long as I carry the state issued plates in the car(so if I'm pulled over, I can show the officer the state issued plate) I'm good.  Every state is different.  Some states don't allow repop plates.  They have to be old state issued plates.  Some states record the "year of manufacture" plate number.  Iowa does not.  I have a copy of the Iowa DOT code that allows these plates in the glove box.  Hopefully I'll never need to reference it.
