Windshield wipers parking problem

My wipers still try to park in the middle of the windshield. 3 speed switch and motor. Everything else seem ok.
Tried grounding motor and switch, but no difference. Any advise on what might cause this..?

Can you take a photo of the switch plate timing and post it?  Sounds to me like the timing on the switch plate is incorrect

I edited John's photo showing the timing nib locations for both E body applications and B Body applications...thanks for the great photo John and that motor is timed correctly    :bigsmile:

Thanks for editting my picture Kim and confirmation on it's timing "nib". I was wondering what to call that thing instead of a "thingy".

For lack of a better word and rambling through thoughts on the phone with someone now and again I've been known to call it a "tit"....aghghggh but it is something we all understand right?  LOL

The wires look bad but are all ok. Nothing touches ground, just looks like it does..

How do I adjust timing on switch plate?

Real hard to tell from the photo but it looks like it's timed properly....next question, part number on the crank arm.....what's the part number on the motor?

You can loosen the screws holding the switch plate to a point where you can lift and turn it, but yours looks like it's timed correctly....have you done a 2 to 3 speed conversion?  Replaced the crank arm?  Driver's side pivot or anything else been modified?

I don't know what's been done to it other than what I did, and that was to change from a 2 speed switch to a 3 speed..

With the 2 speed switch it wouldn't attempt to park at all. Went from bottom to top of windshield, and when turned off it parked at bottom of windshield - did not attempt to go further down.
I'll take the grille off the top and take a picture and see if I can find a number on motor and arm.
Is the link between the long crank arm and the motor possible to mount wrong?

Doubt a phonecall would do any good, as my terminology suck in writing and is even worse performed vocally...
I might be able to film it running and youtube it.

Here's the part numbers you want to make sure that you have with your 3 speed motor:

wiper motor crank  part #2822289-(70-71)
link from the motor to the driver's side pivot  part #2822293(70-71)
Variable speed switch

The crank arm part number, of course, is going to be on the side mounted closest to the wiper motor

I do remember the small arm on the motors position when parked. Its facing the driverside.

When it's parked it should be parallel with the cylinder of the motor.  I'll put a crank arm on the next motor up on my bench and shoot a photo of it in the parked position if you want me to, but it should be parallel when parked

Then I think it's in the right position as it stands. I'll check the partnumbers.
