Man the stuff that is still out there and doing nothing................... :violin:

I hear ya.

I ran across an un restored 70 Pontiac Trans Am 4 speed yesterday.
Really sad. Looked to be sitting there for years. Neglected.

Kinda a different story, but I used to work with a guy who found an original 69 Torino with a 428 cobrajet in it! He bought it for 400 from the old lady who owned the land. It was her husbands and she was happy to have it go to a good home. EXCEPT he took the motor out and stuck it in a dang mustang! He said he just wanted the motor. I asked him if he knew how rare the car was and he said he didnt care.

Wow!   Didn't care.  Some cars should just be left alone.  Much easier to find an engine to put into a stang, but pulling it from a rarity??

Topcat,
Did they want to sell the firebird?
I have a 70 plain jane.  Always looking for that ta though.

Don't know who the owner is. Was alot of repair shops all around it.
When I'm back in that area again, I'll get some pics.

Man the stuff that is still out there and doing nothing................... :violin:

until you or I walk up and ask about it, then we hear the reason why it's just "Sitting" there doing nothing...
Someone is always looking to retire off these so called "Barn finds". Bout the only ones I've ever run across that were "Buyable" were lower class Super Bees where all that made it a SB was the decal on the quarter panel. No Hemi, No 440+6, Nothing. Anything that IS actually "Rare" is still sitting for a sucker with a wad of cash buring a hole in his/her pocket that can no longer stand to see the car rot away.

Was that a white Pinto hatchback in the background of some of those pictures?  My dad had a red one back in the day.  Don't see many of them these days...maybe because they would explode when rear ended

Those Torino's  were a good looking lot.   I had a friend that had same body style...and a 390.....rolled the sucker.........not hurt but messed up a good car.   And to think that I almost bought a 69 fastback a few years ago.........Glad I waited on my Challenger..........
