Hi from an old timer who feels like a newbie - North Carolina

Hi everyone,

If you look at the history of my account here, I bought my 1973 Barracuda about 5 years ago or so.

When I first got it, I did an engine swap, put in a suregrip, did a few this and that's, but then I sort of put the car away.  I had a bunch of overheating problems with the 440 swap at first, and by the time I got it all sorted, it was a project that went on my back burner.

Anyway, about 3 months ago, I got the bug again when I found out my friend was running a restoration shop, and I saw his work.  Handed the car over, and I finally have it back.  Its like a new relationship.  Even went to a car show today (before, I wasn't really proud to "show" it.)

I've been doing a lot of searching and finding answers on here in the last few weeks -- and I wanted to just say thanks.

Hi 67vertman --  I can't quite tell in that pic - Is that a flat black?  I was originally going to go for a flat black on my car, as I love that look.  The shop / friends restoring it though convinced me to go glossy black.  I really like how it turned out, but I swear the next car I do is going to be flat black.  I just really like flat black cars.

Yeah, the car was taken all the way down to bare metal, and brought back up.  I do have a full picture set of the process up on Facebook:

I was really lucky:  There was very little rust to take care of.  But, the guys that painted it before did not put a lot of care into it.  There was a huge dent in the door that was completely hidden by bondo.  Oh, and the front grill was held in place with glued together wood!

Covert, yes its flat black, It's just primered now, but the flat black is realy growing on me.
