Clutch problem

Am have a fun filling whit my cluch in my 41 dodge truch .It has a 340 4 speed .The problem is when i push the clutch in or down to put it in gear it ,at one point it pop down whit a funny jeck and  pop in gear .Then when i relase it it does the same thing.It wont go down or up smoot at all .The cluch i had in had 3 finger and the one in it now has like 23 .Can it be that the clutck is finish it hasent been in there for a lonf time .Also it doenst have much milles on it to.And one have any feat back that can help me out.The linkage for find i also pulled  out the tranny and clean the realise bearing whit is also new and good .

 Sounds like something maybe loose. Have a look around at the linkages, and motor/trans mounts. See what happens when someone pushes in the clutch down at the mechanisms.

Every thing work good nothing loose .It realy weird what it does it like you take a empty paper cup and you push the bothem out and pop it back in it like pop pop. that what it doing

also i used a steel bar to try pushing the clutch and it does the same thing .So it cant be the linkage

 Is it like the clutch linkage pushing in too far? What does the face look like on the diaphram fingers?

Diaphram Clutches feel ALOT different than three finger clutches. You will get that "Over center" feel ALOT more easily with the diaphram style than with the three finger. However, if your linkage is set up with the over center spring under the dash on the pedal assy, then there's part of your problem. You do not need the spring on the pedals with the diaphram style clutch.

the "spring" in a diaphragm clutch is just a cone shaped piece of steel , it does have a weird feel to it , if you shift at high RPM it may stay on the floor too which is why I avoid them

Do you have a safe way to get that big spring off whit out getting kill.

I just use a slip joint/ water pump type plier & pry it off the pin on the pedal

Saw this trick in  latest MM mag. Try slipping a bunch of really thick flat washers into the spring. inbetween each coil until the spring is able to be easily pried off.

thanks for the tip .But i got a new clutch comming tomorow a 3 finger one .Hope that better .

Well problem fix i but in a new clutch and  reles bearring .look like the old presshure plate was my problem.
