Leaking coolant
« on: September 06, 2011 - 08:46:50 AM »
No matter what my mechanic does, we cannot stop the Water neck fr
Om leaking. We've filed the rpm air gap inlet flat, along with the neck itself and it still seeps through. We've also used a ton of rtv. Any ideas what else we can try?

don't use a ton of rtv, that would be my first suggestion.   I hate to use rtv on such because it can be hard to unglue when done properly.  Normally, the best gluing rtv is clear, but...it really glues....

I would try a very thin coat of this one   http://www.amazon.com/Permatex-22071-Thermostat-Housing-Silicone/dp/B0007TQW60

Be sure to let the rtv set for several hours before filling the radiator...

Mancini racing has billet water necks , they will not warp & are worth the $
I also recommend Right Stuff sealant , nothing seals better but it is not cheap .
