Baltimore Gran Prix the Chicane
« on: September 06, 2011 - 10:27:36 PM »
Spent Sunday at the Baltimore Gran Prix.
Covered the track for some pictures.
The Chicane looked to be good for some wheel hopping.
Short video's of the Chicane and track,,,
Stood 20 feet from the cars maneuvering the Chicane.
View the  video full screen click on the 4 arrows bottom right corner of video.

Don't look like Mopar enthuaists are into open wheel racing.

Tony Kanaan and Helio Accident at Baltimore Gran Prix practice. Heads up or duck.

I have watched it from the beginning when it was first televised.
Yep I'm that old.
Turned 72 Sept 2..

1949: WFBM-TV Channel 6 of Indianapolis debuted on air by showing a documentary about the Indy 500, then the entire race live to about 3,000 local households. The station utilized three cameras located along the mainstrech.
1950: WFBM-TV returned to cover the race for a second time. The race was ended early due to rain.
ABC took it over.

Ya, it was pretty cool, I got to watch all the practices on friday. I was working right on pratt st and,,, well didnt get alot accomplished that day but did get to see them all scream by in a blur. Started on the roof of the bldg, until bcpds helicopter came by and made everyone leave, Of the GT class, the loudest car was a yellow vette, but he was slow compared to some of the others.  You could really hear the difference between the  f1 cars and the 2000s   very similar in style and shaper, a little smaller and less loud.  All in all it was pretty cool hain a gp in town brought the city alot of $$ and with a 5 year contract, expect to see them back next year.   espn3 carried the gt and versus carried the main event
see Bill run  go Navy football///fly navy
