1970 Barracuda Vert research.
« on: September 08, 2011 - 10:52:50 AM »
I am in the process of researching the details of my new project and was hoping some of you could shed some light on things as I go along.

First question. The molding around the well has the short style end caps which look to be from a challenger and not the longer cuda style. I am surprised they'd even fit. Anyone seen this before? Id not have noticed it at all but for the fact I was looking through the beaparts catalog.

What's your fender tag say?

I think M31 was on the tag, then you should have the long quarter chrome that would match up to the top of the door trim if you had that.

Otherwise, you'd have the short ones I think like most Challengers.

Unfortunately I don't have 'either' fender tag, I tlooks like there were two at one time but I've not located them. Sounds like your saying that the short moldings could be correct though.

Do you have the chrome trim that goes on the top of the door?  If so, u need the long ones that BEA sells.  If not, short ones.  I prefer the long stuff myself.

Nope, just the short bit, nothing on top of the door.

"Cuda's" used the long ones that you see re-popped and sold by BE/A and others.

"Barracuda's" used the short ones that are not currently being re-popped. The Challenger ones DO look very much the same but do not fit and actually have some differences that are noticeable when you place them side by side. A while ago I almost bought a pair of the short ones because I was convinced they looked like the ones on my "Barracuda". It wasn't until I took them to the car,  placed them side by side and saw the difference. The picture is of my spare "Barracuda" short ones.

John, thanks for the explanation. I have the ones that look like your pic, ie. Barracuda and not Cuda.  Good to know the difference.
