few random questions on my 340TA
« on: September 08, 2011 - 12:50:21 PM »
just got an air gap manifold and holley 650. took the 6 pack off.

looks like i need a 3/4npt - 1" for the bypass hose, and what size is (i think) the heater core hose fitting in npt and nipple size? looks like 1/2" on both?

also, what should i use for a throttle cable hold since the 6pack one went with the manifold - its also a 4spd manual...?

also, ive been told the sig erson cam im running needs a 4deg advance. whats the easiest/cheapest way i can do this? ive already got the timing cover buttoned up but dont have the harmonic balancer on yet so i can pop it off and replace the gasket / timing parts pretty easy right now.

can i just get an adj cam gear? couldnt find on on summit only complete timing sets. which sucks i just installed a new one.

the cheap timing sets have 3 keyways allowing for a 4* advance but generally the 4* advance is designed into the cam , for example the intake CL is 110 so the cam installs at 106 when the dots are lined up , I assume you did not degree the cam with a degree wheel ? I would get a decent double roller chain though if you are going to swap it out .

no all i did was shove the cam in there with lube and install the timing gears with the dots lined up. its double chain setup, seems pretty beefy but no adjustments or additional keyways of any kind. only goes on one way

the advance will be designed into the cam grind so you should be OK as is
