Check ebay, looks like this guy is converting the Ford rear end and they even include disc brakes.

I'm staying away  from ebunk on this. It's got to be new!

Moser 875 is 2000k$ + shipping.
So I'm not sure what to run. Ford? 83/4? 60?
Again... The fabbed housing is what I'd like. But the 60 is burly.

Having built race cars for a while I can tell you the Ford 9 " offers more strength than the 8 3/4 , which is virtually identical in size only because there is 5-6 teeth in contact at all times in the 9 " , it also offer the interchangability of the 8 3/4 . The big downside is the parasitic drag of trying to rotate the gears , the old saying is if you see one guy casually pushing a car at the track it had a Dana , if you see 5 guys pushing hard even downhill it has a 9" in it , the 9 " eats up a lot of power . I have always stayed away from the 9 "
Having raced the 8 3/4 it is marginal at best , one the first day I raced my duster & twisted both axles , luckily they didn't outright fail & I made it home but I had about a 20% twist so how far did they twist to stay at 20% ? . I also distroyed the gear set inside the sure grip 4 times , they take the pounding for a while but will fail .
To me it just makes sense to do the Dana as you will spend close to if not as much to build the weaker 8 3/4 unless you need the gear interchangability

Thanks for the info. CP. At this point I don't want to have to deal with it again. Ever.  So the Dana seems to be the best choice. A finned cover maybe. The fabricated Moser 875 is about the same price. Within 500 bucks. Again...  I really like the look... It would be perfect for my theme.   Ford...eh.  It will probably always be an A engine car. 4-500 hp. Tops.   Lots of corners....lots.   Still thinkn "Dana is king"

I know! I know!... it looks great!  Thanks for the pix dude! I can't decide black/silver.  Leaning towards silver. Red? Uhg.  Don't show me that stuff!!  I wonder how the upper tabs would lay on the moser ?   Yer not makin this any easier Scott. :poopoke:     Is there a backbone option on the moser ? I was going to maybe make up my own to match the engine bay brace. Can't do that with a Dana. Prolly don't need it either.   Aww geeeeze... I don't frigging care really. I just don't want it to vibe!!!!!!! :faint:    Hmmmmmm.   Um... I will be burning up tires if I fix this.... Take that into consideration too!  :burnout:

Sweeet vids!   Hm I gotta get something!! It kinduv looks like an Easter egg back there.  :poopoke:   I'll give ya 1650$ for it.    :naughty:      Matt at Moser has been very good to deal with. It needs a backbone IMO.  The 875 is 500 cheaper.      It's a vintage trans am/ g machine build. (theme).  Fabricated or Dana ...(!?!)    Quit teasing!!! :bricks1:   R/T

I agree the back brace adds to the look and when I take it out to have it powder coated I'll add one to it.
I didn't start with one because I can't decide to add the rear coil overs setup or leave it alone.
The lenth of the brace would change because of the extra u bolts.

Just a thought on your vibe, but have you measured the thickness of your flywheel in at least four different spots around the circumfrence? I have read about flywheels being resurfaced where they were not clamp down flat and the machine cut more material off one side compared to the other.

The engine runs smooth through rpms. The shifter linkage is toast. I've got to replace it or rig it better. The real vibe is coming from the back. I've taken out the speakers,One was cracked. And removed the rear window trim. It was hanging on. So now I can really hear better at what's going on. It gets worse at speed,Not until 60 mph. Then the whole back end starts to vibe. At neutral throttle there it's bad. Push in the clutch... No change. And now the pinion has some play. The axels are not matched. And I think the housing is tweaked.

I'm done with the whole rear end.
Moser sent me some quotes. But I'm not sure these prices are for complete set-ups (?)

I'd reconsider the used/rebuilt Dana for $1800.  You can't break them.
I'll bet you anything you'll be at +3k for the new part when you're done.
I learned this the hard way.

Ya, I'm pretty sold on the Dana.  Dr diff's complete unit is 2500.
Not sure if the moser Dana is a complete price. Going to call. Are you referring to the eBay one katfish?  The Dana just seems to be the best choice overall. What's a fair price for a complete Dana 60?  Thanks for the input!   R/T

:clapping: Watching this post as I might be in the market for a Dana 60 too if funds permit after the engine build.  What do you all think of the True trac for a Dana 60?

The "E locker" looks interesting too. You can switch the locker on and off with a electromagnet. That would be handy on wet roads?
