Well the Decision has Been Made........................

..... I am going to shut down the shop. Hopefully I can sell the property quickly, I am going to sell my equipment and try to get a job at an Autozone or something. I will still build 727's and 904's at home. It is not worth what you have to go through to own a business in this country. Back before the economy crashed, I used to take in around $22,000 to $25,000 in a month, now I am lucky to take in $6,000 to $9,000 a month. No one has any money around here. The stress is unreal of worrying about making ends meet a month. The taxes that you have to pay in this country to own a business is outrageous. It is definitely not "the land of opportunity" any more. I will get off my soapbox now.......................

Sad but understandable !
 Same reason I moved to Panama , with the escalating costs & ever increasing taxes , added laws taking away freedoms why continue to play the game . I figure I can do better here [yet to prove it though ] the economy is growing 8-10% / year & this country needs skilled people + summer is 9 months longer here .
 Getting a job anywhere in your area could still be tough though .

Poor economy is showing everywhere.   Went bowling for the first night last night and we only had 12 teams out of our normal 20?  Use to have a waiting list and now can not even fill the league?      I sell real estate and now I have to sell 4 homes to equal what I use to make off of one!   Sad but true . . . .

I don't post here very often but got wind of this through the grape vine. I'm very very sorry to hear about this Terry. It's a tough call and obviously one you had no real choice in making, you have to do what you have to do. I hope you get a decent little job to cover the necessities and make some "play money" on the side building TorqueFlites in your spare time. Be sure to inform EVERYONE of your clients that you are still building them and give them the details of how to contact you.

Unfortunately, it's the same everywhere mate, people just don't have the money to buy anything at all and with "rising everything", it makes it tough. I'll be in a similar position to you soon as importing direct from the USA for clients here is all but dry. N one has the money to fund toys. You'll be alright, you'll bounce back and be in the game again, just give it a little time mate, things have a way of sorting themselves out in the end. Keep the head up.

That`s sad to hear but I agree with you on the cost of running a small business in the US is kiling them off ecspecially in this extended bad economy.I work in a manufacturing shop with around 35 employees and I am thankfull I still have a good paying job.As we all know a lot of manufacturing has gone overseas b/c of the cost of doing business and I`m not sure we will ever get it back.

Do you have any employees? Can you in any way continue doing the business out of your home?
Is there any way to cut your overhead, lay off the employees and keep the tools you need and pare the operation down to bare-bones? Can you rent the building out to someone else, at least until the real estate situation looks up (if it ever does)?
