B- body rear end in chally

I have a B-body rear end in my chally.  Not sure what it is out of.  Had to get Dr. Diffs offset hangers for it to work in my chally.  It is an 8 3/4 742.  I put a 3;23 posi chumnk in it.  I am getting ready to install new bearings and seals.  How would i know which ones to get or what should I tell the parts store I need?  I hope this isn't a crazy question. Should I get them pressed off and take them with me to the parts store to mach them up?   Thanks, Danny

Go back to to the original design brg , you will have to cut them off the save the retainer plates

I don't understand Chryco.     :dunno:  Are you saying I will have to cut the bearings off?

What brgs are we talking about ?
 the carrier brgs or the axle brgs ?

you can still get the brg , retainer rings ,& outer seals in a kit ,no I don't have the part # .
the problem is first you have to cut the retainer ring to remove it & you will damage the retainer plates & adjuster pressing the brg off the axle so you need to cut the brag off as well to save the retainer plates as they are no longer available , then you can press on new brgs & retainers , usually the retainers need to be heated to install them

The guy doing this already messed up the adjusting retainer plate trying to press them off.  I am going to scream so loud u will be able to hear me in Canada.   :pullinghair:

Contact Dr Diff, he has used parts for sale, retainers and adjusters.
You could always simply things and switch over to the Green bearings.

Green bearings? Would I not have to use the factory retainer plates and how do the green bearings go on, (pressed)?   A little info on how to install t
hese, the pros,  and do local parts stores carry these?  If more simple I would do the green bearings.  Thanks, Danny

 :iagree:  especially if you like taking corners hard! The "green " bearings didn't last one night circle track racing! Tapered rollers bearings are the better choice IMO  :2thumbs:

I HAVE BEEN RUNNING GREEN BEARINGS IN MY 440/6 PACK FOR OVER 10 YEARS AND NEVER A PROBLEM,THEY HAVE OUTLASTED THE LAST TWO 727S,NO DIFF MODS INSIDE THE CARRIER, I CANT FAULT THEM, THIS CAR HAS HAD SOME SERIOUS ABUSE.

Back on the road again.  Took my axles to a local parts store, they had a splitter that allowed them to get the bearings off without cutting them off.  Had to replace an axle due to somebody cutting off a bearing before and cutting into the axle pretty bad.  But the axle I bought had an adjuster on it so that worked out.  Replaced seals and bearings and reinstalled axles.  Again woo hooo, Thanks Guys as always a huge help to me....  I owe Chryco and Brad bigtime for all the help.  Thanks again, Danny    :bigsmile:
