I HAVE BEEN RUNNING GREEN BEARINGS IN MY 440/6 PACK FOR OVER 10 YEARS AND NEVER A PROBLEM,THEY HAVE OUTLASTED THE LAST TWO 727S,NO DIFF MODS INSIDE THE CARRIER, I CANT FAULT THEM, THIS CAR HAS HAD SOME SERIOUS ABUSE.
:iagree:
they would not be able to sell the green brg if it didn't work ,  all I am saying is the tapered roller is a superior design by a long shot , most of these cars are 40 years old & the original brgs have not failed unless they ran dry on grease & still do not need to be replaced no matter how hard the cars were driven . Given a choice I will always  go back to the original tapered roller brg as it is the superior design for the same cost .

FWIW...
The axle bearings alone are BCA # A-7 or C/R # BR7
Kits below (BCA/National #'s)  include the seals and axle mounting plates but may be somewhat expensive and difficult to find at local parts stores...
Axle mounting flange repair kit, right (includes adjuster)     A-7-RK
Axle mounting flange repair kit, left                                 A-7-LK
Remember, you must pack the bearing with GOOD axle grease, it does not lube from the diff. There is a seal in the axle mounting plate and one in the housing.

Taper roller bearing is far superior.  :2cents:

After I switched to the RP 400 greens (no snap ring), that are firmly attached to a stronger than stock flange plate, my spooled 8 3/4" stopped chattering the stock tapered axle bearing's .012 end play, on slow turns in the pits and driveway turns. They are firmer so the tire squirms evenly on turns instead of chipping. And if you use the disc type (MO400) with disc's you get even more control of the axle, through the caliper to the housings firm mounting.
I like the tool that cracks the retaining collar for the upgrade to Greens, instead of the chisel method or cutting.
