Need Starter Parts for Bendix Drive
« on: September 18, 2011 - 07:43:09 PM »
This is a 2095150 starter from my 1970 Challenger.

The 2 plastic retainers that secure the fork to the clutch drive / Bendix drive are broken. The starter will engage properly but when the fork is not attached to the drive unit, the drive unit flops around on the shaft and was coming into contact with the flexplate teeth. Sounded like the motor was about to grenade!
Does anyone know where to purchase these plastic retainers or anyone have a workaround using substitute parts?
Thanks

I would start with a rebuilder , he should have new parts , or there are 100s of the old style starers around now that a lot of people are switching to the minis if you want a core to work with . I know i have 6 or more old style starters around
