That sounds like a horrible idea to me.. lol For one, convertibles are usually heavier because of all the reinforcement needs, and a hard top beats a vert anyday in my book.

And I'll Bi*** all day long who really cares? I love the new challengers, but there's always room for improvement... sports car, muscle car, it's all opinion really so who cares, I can argue that all day long.  plain and simply... it needs to be lighter.  Put the old and the new next to each other, the new one looks like an overgrown fatty. I know because I have a 70 and my girlfriend has a 2010 r/t I see the difference in person everyday.  There's no denying it, whether you like it or not.

And frankly, comparing it with corvette, mustang, and camaro IS FAIR because that's what the competition is. I would never buy anything other than MOPAR so that's not an option either, It's just an overbearing issue with the car, it was designed big, for big wheels, and to be heavy.  I remember reading an interview online where even Ralph Gilles admitted to it

Here's my humble take on these fat pigs. At a car show, people will walk right by 10 Corvettes to get to my car and drool all over it. I can take it to the track, bolt on my drag radials and skinnies, run high to mid 12's, bolt my street tires back on, and get 25mpg on the trip back home in comfort and safety. This car will get me anywhere I need to go as quick as I want to go, and lands me more tail than Sinatra in his Rat Pack days. They are a bit pricey, but then again, they're better built than the Camaro (I've driven and been under 2 so far).

AH! A new chally vert, yea that may get me on the dealers lot. I guess that thing would weigh in around 4500 lbs. The new cars are just modern with all the creature comforts that add weight. Doesnt make em bad at all, just a different kind of fast. I know my wife loves our car, but she misses the modern comforts of our 95 trans am we sold to buy the cuda. By the way we both like the cuda better. New "plastic" cars are nice, but old iron is flat out cool!

I think it's the platform crash protection that carries all the weight not the options on the car.
Its already got plastic interior, and the 2 small power window motors weight less than 4 manual window parts from the old cars.

The drag pack cars are the ones to look at if you want to save all the frills and go back to 1970.

I think gutted they only saved less than 1000 lbs.  :dunno:

You do have a choice.

If you don't like the new challengers, there are plenty of e-bodies for sale.

Buy one and build it the way you like.

I for one love my 2011 challenger.

There will never be a car that is prefect for everyone.

I am not angry at all about it.

 :iagree:

The Road Runner/Super Bee mentality is gone.  If you want the big engine, get the fully loaded top of the line car.  Otherwise you're stuck in V-6 land at your budget.  I for one would LOVE a 6.4 SRT Challenger.  Unfortunately I can't justify the extra 10-15 grand over a "regular" Hemi.  I would love a base model, stripper SRT powered Challenger but Chrysler knows that would dilute the "SRT brand experience" and won't do it.  In fact when I bought my 12 I specifically asked for the most stripper R/T available.  I guess there weren't any because all the ones the dealer had were equipped with nav, heated seats or a sunroof.  I guess I'll suffer with the one I got.

The SRT-4 was a decent little cheap fast car but they were getting crashed so often I think Chrysler was gun shy about putting power in the hands of kids like that again.
Yes I own a 1972 Dodge Challenger Convertible T/A S/E with a 440 Six Pak. Can it get any more wrong?

Just fun and games... or wishful thinking if you want to call it that :roflsmiley:
I like what they're doing with the new superbee/yellow jacket, cut the thrills and left the 392 hemi... costs much less than the regular 392, but unfortunately still 40,000 (out of most people's price range).  Ive heard lots of talk about a new chrysler "plymouth cuda" on the forums... would be cool but I personnally call B.S.

OK, I have not heard about a new Superbee/Yellow Jacket.  What is this?

Dodge must've been reading my threads! Its a back to the basic charger "super bee" and challenger "yellow jacket."  392 hemi srt8s with out the bells and whistles. Still expensive, but not as much as normal.  You may recall the name yellow jacket, it comes from an old challenger concept from the 70's
