Billet Hood Hinges for E-Body Challenger
« on: September 23, 2011 - 03:21:44 PM »
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knew the weight of the factory steel hood for '70 Challenger?
I just finished designing and making some Billet Hood Hinges for the E-body cars and need to size the gas spring.  (see pic)
I also wonder if anyone knows the weight of the fiberglass hoods?
Any help would greatly appreciated.

Ted

Wow, That is great. I was wondering who was gonna step up and make these. The challenger hood weighs more than the cuda , The fibergass hood is a good 25 lbs lighter than the steel. This is why AAR and TA models had smaller springs. The shaker is heavier than the flat or bulge hoods(more internal bracing)  Of course my hood is mounted on the car so I cant give you a exact weight ,hopefully someone will chime in. Lets us know what the cost is for them. Also this topic at this link too. http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=51908.0

Hey Ted those Look familial buddy.

   :bigshades:

I would think AMD 866 891 8309 if you want to check they should be able to give us all the different e body hood weights as they reproduce them and would know for shipping purposes.

Thanks to you Scott.  The First set is coming your way.

I don't have prices yet as I am still sourcing the gas spring, but they will be comparable to Ring Brothers or Fesler.

I will let you know when I do.
Thanks again,
TB

Hmmm, brake 6 piston upgrade or hinges? It's a tough call.

We had such a great response we have had to add a second production run  :wow:
I ordered the gas springs yesterday for the first production run  And will be working hard to get them done.
