Lap Belt loops
« on: September 24, 2011 - 07:57:15 AM »
I didn't even know I was missing these (circled in red), but it sure explains why I have to spend time fishing the belts out.  I'd need them in black (if they came in different colors).  Does anyone make these or have some laying around they aren't using?

What year of service manual is the pic from?  I don't remember seeing the loops until after 71.

I know 70 & 71 did not have them.  I know 73 & 74 did have them.  I am unsure if part or all of 72 had them (midyear change).  I have several here in the consoles.  I'll get a pic tomorrow.

It must have been a mid year 73 change because my October 72 built 73 doesn't have them.  There are no holes in the console for them either.

I was mistaken.  My 73 DOES have holes for them in the console.  Dad doesn't remember them ever being there though.  He always had to fish the belt out from between the console and the seat.  The factory must have forgotten to install them.

Jamiez,  the gray parts you are seeing are part of the loops.  Yours are broken off.  I will try to get a pic tomorrow.  I just have an impossible schedual right now.

Any luck on the picture Challenger6pak?  I'm still interested in doing something with my belts, even if I just end up fabricating something.

I have not had enough time in 1 block to get things out.  I'll post it if I get to it.

Anyone ever have any dealings with them?

Here's a stupid question...

Could you use one of those long black plastic straps that are in the engine compartment to replace those missing pieces?  They look similar.  Maybe the hole in the console is bigger then the hole on the inner fender for that strap though.  Just thinking outloud.
