Water cross over port at the front of the small block intake , it is a 1/8 pipe thread hole for the factory sender

Is it too long or something? They both look to be 1/8 NPT? Just different ends for wiring?

if it is 1/8 " pipe thread that should be correct , unless it was mispackaged , the top one has the end that the factory used

The one O'Reilley's gave me is just too small.

The rusty part on the left is a packing nut. The sensor in the car now does not have any threads.

That looks to be a mechanical temp gauge. If it's shot you will need to replace the entire gauge. It's not a factory part.

This is what it's attached to. I do plan on getting rid of this setup and returning to the stock gauges, once Classic Industries is up to speed on their parts.

Ya once the capiliary ( sp?) tubing gets a leak it's done. Maybe look for the stock plug in your wiring harness that attaches to the  temp sender that bhas the threaded top? (untill your new gauge gets to you?)

In the pic, the needle is pegged out. While the motor is running, it stays the same.

Shouldn't it be the other way around?

My mechanic said it should be around 230/240.

When the engine is off and cold, the needle should be sitting on 130, or whatever is the lowest possible reading.
When running and warmed up, it should rise to around 180-200, depending upon ambient conditions....

It was about 9pm when I took the pic, and the car has been sitting in the garage since about 4pm. When I pulled the temp sensor out, the coolant was warm, but not hot.

the gauge should always reflect the coolant temp...if it can read that low...or it will start to move the needle when the coolant rises above the minimum that the gauge reads

It may be the gauge itself that is fried and not the capillary sender....either way, you need a new gauge and sender, or install the factory sender and factory gauge
