Who Sells MOPAR Speedo Cables?
« on: September 27, 2011 - 11:13:15 PM »
Where can I get a MOPAR Speedo Cable?  Dave at roseville has them on back order----- not sure what the eta is.  Any other suggestions?  Please provide Web address and/or company name.  (Must be Mother MOPAR, not an aftermarket).  Thanks

Dave just sent me one so he might have had some come in.  It's perfect too!

Stay away from Year One as I've seen one and it's not very good.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Mine failed about a month ago so Dave has one put aside for me, but I'm 90% sure I'm going with a Keisler auto OD set up and it comes with a new cable. I'll PM Dave and tell him to send it to you if that works for you?

What a coincidence that this topic was started. I went to my local dealership (St. Catharines, ON) and gave them 2 part numbers - 2889783 & 4897646AA. They said it's no longer available through the dealer. Every Google search I've read said that it WAS still available at "Mother Mopar". So, is it just that us Canadians can't get it in Canada? Sorry challengermaniac that this wasn't any help but I'm kinda curious about this too.

Do I have the correct replacement speedo cable?  As in how does the top cable end fit on to the back of the speedo gauge and do the 2nd & 3rd pics look correct for the speedo cable going into the trans?

this is the ONLY cable. the upper pushes onto the  speedp housing stem and the tab grabs the ridge and holds it,  with the lower the center is like a rectangular end and that goes into the end of the pinion, then you thread the nut on,

Funny this comes up again, just when I'm looking for the same input...
I bought my cable a few years back at an Autozone, or whatever...
Went and hooked it up, and didn't get to drive the car till after pulling the IP again.
Upon install, I had a devil of a time under the dash putting the cable back in with the "clip"
But once I got it on, all seemed well and good.
Took it for a test drive and nothing.
Went to remove the cable, and that clip broke, rendering whatever cable I had useless.
Is there a higher quality one out there that is available?
What could be the reason it didn't work?

Serves me right from not buying it from Ma....

You may have missed the part where they described the inner cable as being SQUARE. Put the top connection on first which allows you to spin the bottom end to make sure the cable goes in the square hole smoothly and then index the bottom end to match the orientation of the square socket in the trans and make sure it goes in smoothly before threading the nut on. Chances are that you jammed the cable in one of the sockets and bound it so it wouldn't/couldn't turn. A touch of Lubriplate is also a good thing on the ends of the cable. Good luck
