Time to paint the house
« on: September 29, 2011 - 08:07:57 AM »
My wife decided that it's time for me to paint the house.
I've spent the last 3 days pressure washing the outside to get rid of salt etc and picked up the paint yesterday. Is it wrong that I took Mopar 70-74 paint chips with me when I picked out the paint? I ended up with a close match to Sassy Grass Green, Top Banana and 72 Mist green. I thought it was best to get the paint while my wife was at work so she couldn't shoot down the Sassy Grass idea.
The great thing about Puerto Rico is that you can get away with those colors without being the looney guy on the block.

Right now the house is Top Banana, Turquoise Poly and Powder Blue. But my wife thought it was time for a change.

I thought about it, but it was vetoed as soon as I mentioned it.

Here's a pic from when I bought the house in 07. I haven't painted since then, so it's about time.

I'll get another pic when I get done.

In my part of the country - screw painting, siding is so much easier.

In Puerto Rico most of the houses are concrete and concrete block so siding isn't isn't very popular here.

I did think about rappelling for  some of the big walls, but I bought a 24 foot ladder instead. I bought a 5 gallon pail of each color and I think it's going to be enough to do the whole place.

I'm about half way finished now, but it's brutal painting in 85+ degree heat. I got a little of the Sassy Grass painted and it doesn't look too bad. I think it will look pretty good when it's finished.

Nice looking house, Puerto Rico looks so warm and comfortable. *Looks outside = 50 degrees, wind, rain*  :swear:

Sassy grass colored house  :smilielol: so cool. You got to show some pictures when it's done!

Painted my house a couple summers ago.  Never be able to get away with Sassy Grass here.LOL

Tom

BTW I wish all I needed was a 24' ladder...  The 36' wasn't tall enough for the driveway side, I needed to use a broom stick with brush adapter to do the area above the window for both trim and body.

Got rained out yesterday at about 2. Same thing happened today at the same time, but I decided to do a little of the painting that's under cover. I needed a roller for rough surfaces so jumped in the truck to head out to the hardware store. There was thunder and Spud the Fox Terrier hated it, so he jumped the fence and chased me down. He ran under the truck and I ran over him. I grabbed him and rushed him to the vet. He died about an hour later of internal hemorrhaging.

The Cuda is going to be named Spud when it's finished.
