Reverse Problem

Just installed my Pistol Grip shifter on my 883, Trans is on bench out of car,, i can go 1-2 and 3-4 using Handle, but can,t go reverse, only when i manually move rod, Is there something i,m missing here Thanks

you may not have the levers centered in the shifter , you can adjust the rod length to get all tree levers centered , there is a notch in the bottom of the shifter body & holes through the 3 levers , you can insert a drill bit or similar to line them all up & adjust the rod lengths from there . if the levers are not lined up the shifter will not move into tthe reverse gate

Thanks Chryco, would the leverson trans for 1-2 and3-4 be up and down and reverse at angle around 2 o'clock to do this adjustment , also this notch in bottom what do i look for here Thanks

disconnet the levers from the side of the trans & center the levers in the shifter , you can slide a drill bit through the holes in all 3 levers when centered , then adjust the rod lenght so the levers fit on the trans , Sorry I do not have an y pix handy

Got you now With That in mind, When the shifter is at rest i can push it forward to 3 back to4, then i pull handle to the left and i can do 1 and 2 But should,nt i be able to pull it more to the left so i can push it forward into Reverse That is what i can,t do Trans has been rebuilt, new rods, Hurst Comp has not ?
