Tinted Glass - not green
« on: October 08, 2011 - 11:18:46 PM »
Does anyone know of any companies offering tinted glass for e-bodies that isn't green, say maybe gray?
If so, has anyone used them and can you comment on their quality?

NO and NO,  far as i know the mfg's that are making glass only do OE spec replacement glass, my suggestion is to buy clear and put what ever % of tint you want on.

Next question, then. I'm not really familiar with tinting options, but is there an option that doesn't include putting a decal on the window? I'm not really interested in something that's going to bubble up, peel off or get easily scratched.

nothing available other than the decal style. it much more durable then films years ago. if your window felts are new this shouldnt be an issue, i think you SOL unless you try to have something made and that will be cost prohibitive.

Hey Dave..........the only other option I can think of would be to paint...............a gray transparent type and fade it down.............may sound strange..................I guess it is....... :bricks1:

Are you just talking about the top of the windshield...??

In my perfect world I'm talking about all the glass. I was at the Auto Fair in charlotte a few years ago and there was a company that was custom making glass in any color. I think they were primarily aimed at the hot rod market, but when I asked the guy specifically told me that he could do any car, any color, any degree of tint, and that he was tinting the glass itself and not putting a decal on it. Problem is ... I lost the card  :bricks1:

If his product is unique, then there may be a chance he'll be at SEMA.
I'll try to keep it in mind to look for his booth when I go there.

Jeff, you forgot to mention they have it for verts also. I bought smoked gray for my vert and I'm real happy with it, decent price too.
