"72 up consoles had seat belt straps on the sides. "

Does anyone have a pic of these? My seat belts always slide down between the console and seat. PITA. Lol. I'm assuming these straps were added to prevent this...

There was just a post on those straps a couple weeks ago.  It doesn't look like they are being repopped.

I asked my dad if the car ever had those straps and he said NO.  He said he always had to fish the belt off the floor.  The console does have holes in it for those straps though.

I wonder if the straps were installed at the factory or if they came in a bag in the trunk or in the console for the dealers to install.  That may explain why some cars never had them installed.  :dunno:

I was going to try to find some and get a pic of them.  I just can't get to it.  They are made of nylon.  They are like the nylon wire ties you can buy.  I may finally have some time today.  They broke very easily.  When they broke they fell out of the holes at least 75% of the time.

Those loops don't help a whole bunch in keeping the seat belt from sliding down, but I guess they are better than nothing. I swapped the bottom of my console with one that had the straps.

Ditto...but man he doesn't make it easy.  Either pay with a credit card or send him a money order with a description of what you want.

Lol. Yeah. Not the most up-to-date web purchase experience out there.

But whatever... I consider myself lucky if I can find any NOS E Body part, let alone a rare one, for $15. ;-)

So... got the console seatbelt straps from www.texasacres.com

He was quick on shipping, by the way.

My report on install is this:

Think heater hose firewall strap. That's exactly what these things are, only thinner. I was underwhelmed. Still, the goal is originality, so there you have it. Old School Mopar, warts and all.

I chose to shave a bit off the male end of the connector 'cause I was paranoid about my console cracking trying to jam them in.

Once installed, I gotta say I don't think they would be all that effective. Although it does seem like they would keep the seatbelt from going ALL the way down between the seats and console.... which mine used to do and is a real PITA.

To wit, I went ahead and tightened up the bolts holding the belts on. Now they definitely won't slip down. Lol.

So... $15 to add one more small NOS detail to my very original interior.   :-)

Great, I hope mine show up soon.  I only sent off the order last Friday.  I ordered 2 sets, just in case...I figured $15 was cheap enough given I had been looking for the things for a quite a while before you posted a picture :)
