Oil pan clearance issues
« on: October 12, 2011 - 09:26:09 PM »
I need some help. I'm installing a 360 into my 73 challenger. The engine came with a deep oil pan with no name on it. When installed, the drag link bar hits the back of the oil pan when the car is turned 1/2 way left or right. I held a friends deep oil pan next to mine and they look very similar. Any input would be great

Is the drag link offset towards the pan, or away?

I'm not sure what you mean by offset but as far as I can tell the steering linkage looks stock

What has caught my eye is the gap between the mount and block on the upper rear bolt. Cold this be the wrong mount? I'm used to looking at Big Blocks, but that gap isn't right.   :2cents:

And also, it looks like the sump is positioned for a different chassis - it should sit more foward towards the K member

the gap on the engine mount is a common issue when trying to find the correct mounts for a small block (from what I understand). I'm just going to fill it with a spacer.

I guess what I'm looking for is should I try and cheat the steering linkage or do I have to get a a new pickup and oil pan? If so, any suggestions?
