Yup, Mopar alternators don't charge at idle.  It's hell to tune a fuel injection setup when my voltage drops at idle and is worse when my H4 headlights are on.  I even run the later model 7355 altenator out of a 3/4 ton 80s model Dodge van and have the same problem.  The only way to fix this is to run the newer alternator like the Powermaster that Mancini sells. It is the later model GM style. The only reason I don't run one them is because of the price.

Possibly corrosion in the wiring or connectors creating high resistance.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Yes, check your connections. All my running lights only draw a little over 3 amps. That is over 17 bulbs in my 70 and 71 challengers.   If you have the alternator problem, you'll see the headlights dim at idle and you ammeter will be on the negative side.

The alternator I referenced from Mancini is here:
http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/postal.html

It says "excellent output at idle"
