New guy from Vancouver Wa
« on: October 18, 2011 - 04:06:19 AM »
Hi  My Name is Eddie and now the owner of a 1973 barracuda..  here is the story

The car first belonged to a local bartender ,she got into a fender bender with it one night after work in the 1980's
my uncle bought the car from her, and gave it to my cousin around 1985 or so  .. My cousin was a diehard Chevy guy and didn't want the car ( WHAT A DUMB ASS)
anyway his wife was about to give birth to a baby boy.. So he made the decision to save the car for him while he grew up.. so the car sat for around a year .still wrecked. . from the fender bender
Well one knight my cousins wife thought that after a drink or 2 it would be cool to take it for a drive.. needless to say she finished off the bumper ,grill and right front  fender.. I think that was some time in late 86 that was the last time the car saw the road it has been sitting on a concrete slab out side all these years going to crap....My dad has been trying to buy the car all these years he has made many offers,  and my cousin kept saying NO it's my sons car when he grows up it's his
anyway I wad visiting with my dad about a month ago and his phone rang ... that's right you guessed it .. it was my 2nd cousin all grown up  .. He said to my dad I know you have been trying to buy my car for a long time do you still want it?  And of course my dad said yes.. he then asked why do you want to sell it? he replied I know nothing about cars I'm not a car person.. All I need is a cheep car to get from point A to B .... so anyway dad and i went and loaded it on the trailer..  got down the road  then he said to me ..   You know I have been trying to get this car since 1985 I was younger then , now I'm nearly 70 ...  So if buy the parts to fix it It's yours.....   needless to say at 37 years old I now own another one of my dream cars.. of course when it's finished he can drive it any time he wants...

Outrunm-
Welcome to CC.Com.  I like your story.  It’s one that’s been told quite often over the years.  Except, yours ends with a happy ending; the owner, who will restore the Cuda/Chally “one day” (but never does) actually sold the car.  :jumping:  I like happy endings.

Looking forward to you and your dad’s progress on the Cuda’s rebuild.  Please post some pics

Again, Welcome!

Ron

Welcome to the site.....  :woohoo:

Lots of car guys here in WA.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Welcome, OUTRUNM!

That looks wicked cool!  I thought it would look miuch worse after the accident!  A passenger fender, a grill, etc... some new tires and get er on the road!  :burnout:  The body itself looks very solid!
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

3 things Eddie, 1- Welcome to the site! 2- nice grab on the Cuda and 3- go and give your Dad a hug and a kiss, because while one day the Cuda will be ready to go, your Dad won't be and you'll miss a guy like that. I speak from experience.

Love the story man! it reminds me of my grandfather's old 77 Chevy 3/4 ton custom. My uncle owns it and he won't let his youngest son have it because it doesn't have an air bag.

Hi Eddie,

so cool, sometimes dreams become true. I like the ori-"color", but since it is not complete, you will have to repaint it. We have a Charger around here, that has a very antique paint. The owner will leave it like this.
