How are 4 speed pedals supposed to mount to the firewall?

Hey, guys.

My 73 Challenger started out as an auto but was converted to 4 speed by the guy that had it before me. Well... he STARTED to convert it. I've had to go back and fix most of what this jackass did. :-)

Anyway... Looking at the clutch / brake pedal assembly, I noticed that it looks to be held on with only two nuts. (They are fricking purple anodized. I'm assuming this isn't factory correct. Lol)

So... there are two studs from firewall with nuts holding the assembly on, only.

It occurred to me that this might not be right as I can literally feel the clutch pedal moving a bit as the motor torques.

What do you think? Does this sound right? Any pics of a correct install would be welcome.

the pedal bracket bolts to a number of places , there should be 4 nuts through the firewall with red anodization on them for the brake , there is a smaller bracket with a strap that bolts through the firewall to support the clutch pedal , it comes from the engine side & supports the end of the pivot shaft for the clutch pedal . The auto & 4 speed use most of the same brackets under dash so the clutch pedal & shaft can be swapped out the the brake pedal from the auto without removing the brackets so I assume this is what was done .

Contrary to popular belief, and auto pedal "Cage" under the dash is identical at the brake pedal to a manual one. All you need is the clutch pedal and end bracket for strength...

You don't have to pull all that crap out from under the dash unless you just want to. Brewer's sells a "conversion" kit to convert your auto to manual with both pedals.
