Wanted - Cuda/barracuda 1970-75 project/salvage car below $6000
« on: October 20, 2011 - 10:06:01 AM »
Looking for a decent unibody with ok framerails. Parts missing is not a problem.
You see, I have a totally rusted out 1971 Cuda convertible that is beyond repair.. All railframes are practically gone. All parts are there and miraculously all the convertible-specific parts are rust free!
Papers/VIN is not an issue with the parts car. All I need is a pretty decent body. Fenders, quarters are no problem to swap.

Is the price realistic?

Cheers!

With all the repop metal out there these days, you can probably replace it all with new stuff and still be $$ ahead of using a donor car.

:iagree: A bunch less work too. It's pretty difficult removing body pieces from a donor car without messing them up.  :2cents:

I believe the frame rail, or part of the frame rails are re-popped now too.

Well, I've done some research and looked at repop pieces from yearone and i stopped counting at 15000 USD  :roflsmiley:
It is so rusted out that the floor and framerails had collapsed during transport overseas. I knew this before I bought it so no problem with that. As you can see from the pictures the body is laying straight down on the floor, leafsprings has pushed the rearend upwards etc etc..
I cant see that it would be possible to attach/weld anything on there cause there is nothing to attach it to!
Everything that is unique for the convertible is intact and in a very good shape (amazingly) so I still believe it is easier to move all those pieces onto a new body that is reasonably intact.

Enjoy the horror below..

Wow yes I think I know why you're thinking re body now. That is one rough vert. My friend offered me a rust free stripped 74 Cuda body a couple of months ago for $3000 too bad I didn't grab it. I would think you should be able to find a pretty nice one for under $5k in this day and age especially a 72-74 you'll have to change the tail panel on it but I think you'd save enough to make it worth while. Where are you?

:scared: I haven't said this very often.... I think that one is done! It looks like quite a few valuable parts are there for another project.

I told you so!  Changing of tail panel is the least of my problems :)
I live in Sweden so I'll have to make acount for shipping/tax/toll cost also :(  and of course the risk of getting screwed!
A 5000USD car incl all costs would be approximately 7500USD delivered to my front door...

Believe me, It's welldone :)
And your right about the parts. It came with alot of extras. All documentation was also included. The interiour was removed from the car in the early eighties and preserved well so luckily it is in mint condition. The colour I believe is quite rare? It is a very bright orange colour, I like it! The front (bezel?)is also in a very good shape.

PM sent. I have access to the perfect car for you. Get in touch with me asap. 74 Cuda body cloned to 70/71 already  has correct quarters & tailpanel and is set up as a 4 speed to boot. 100% rust free and done right. It also should easily fit into your budget.

If it was a bright orange color, would that be EV2?

What is the fender tag readout?

I would love to decode that car.

No response from jarven. I guess I will let it go somewhere else.
