People dont cut the floor up. The conversions I did had 700r4/4L60 and the 80e was just 3.25" longer. So it was just a matter of moving your mounting point back 3.25" and shortening the driveshaft 3.25". The shifter cable and stock 700r4/60e linkage bolts right to the side of the 80e. I know you have already made your purchase but just letting others know that read this that an 80e is no big deal and it looks like the 80e has aftermarket support with bellhousing adaptors ready to go. You have a good easter!!!!

:2thumbs:   Good info! Good to know.  Do you know what years of the 80 are the ones to get and out of what vehicle?  I have a buddy that own's a wrecking yard close by. Might have to snag some cores when I can.  I tend to stock pile parts.... ;)

Look for cores with the cooling line fittings about 12" apart. Those are the ones with updated internals. There are 5 pinion models available but not worth the extra cost of the core. Doesn't matter if it's 2wd or 4 wheel drive cause if you build it, its easy to stick a 2wd shaft in it and get a 2wd housing. But if you get a 4wd trans, more than likely it will NOT have the TOSS reluctor wheel mounted on the rear carrier. Luckily, sonnax makes a press in reluctor wheel that goes on really easy. You need that TOSS setup so the trans controller can compare TISS and TOSS to determine road speed and drivetrain slippage.
If you do a Transgo shift kit in an 80e, do NOT use the hardened bolt in the overdrive drum. They dont fit tight enough and will vibrate out. Just use the stock style interference bolt in the overdrive drum when bolting it up.

I have been waiting for Keisler to get a correct flywheel to fit my 8 bolt crank for my 440.  It seems they had an issue with the fit, and have just gotten in a new flywheel with the correct centered bolt pattern.  Supposedly Keisler is test fitting it and if everything is good, then they should be able to ship me my trans  and have it here for early May.  I am not holding my breath.  I guess its better to know that it won't fit before I get it than install it and then find out it doesn't work.  I hope this thing works good after waiting this long.
Chryco is right, their customer service is crap.  I have called numerous times and their excuse is "Ill check with the vendor and get back to you" and never get a call or email.  Ever!  The only guy that gave me good info was the guy in the shop who works on the trans, not the guys in the office.  I'll probably be getting a "I told you so".  :violin:

My trans is finally here!!  Everything looks to be there and it was packaged very nicely.  It is starting to look like a lot of work, with the wiring, and all the small parts.  I am going to have to figure out where I want to bury the computer but still have access.  I am excited about this trans as I think it will make up a huge part of the cars drivability.  I won't be installing it any time soon.  I am still gathering parts, with an exhausts system on the way, heat and a/c to be ordered this week, rear end rebuild coming after that, and a dash rewire too.  Hopefully I can start full disassembly in a couple of weeks!  J

Are you meaning torque ratings? Or controller options?

I have the option of letting them do a custom tune, or a basic tune with the software and lastly I think is the simple tune, a mechanic switch for.different driving styles... Waiting to hear  about it from Chris.

About half way through the install. I have a question for those that have installed one. I'm having issues/concerns with the slap stick shifter detent plate . I installed it in the shifter and not yet installed on the tranny. The concern I have is the shifter has no detent between 2-3rd and again between revernce and neutral?
Here are a couple crappy pictures of the detent plate.

Now here is a picture Keisler sent me.

I'm finding Keisler is wrong in how they labeld the top ( gold cad plated ) detent plate.
Where they have labeled 1st gear is wrong its actually 2nd gear is actually first gear. and what they labled park is also wrong. Park is actually  actually  what they labeled reverce. The bottom detent plate is correct.

Brad, is the plate wrong, or is it just labeled wrong?  Does it fit in the shifter and work correctly, or is it truly not made correctly?  I am right behind you and getting closer to my own install.   Jordan
