Well, I hate to say it, but all of those of you who were against purchasing the keisler product are spot on. After fighting with them to get my product (which was suppose to arrive mid July) they would not pick up the phone, respond to emails, and even after Telling Ben to ship up the tranny and send the back order items later, he still did not.

Only after threatening to call the credit card company if he didnt ship it by end of day did he get it going, but now after over a week of fighting with there shipping company we are cancelling the purchase.

The product is supposably shipped and needs to be cleared through customs by a broker. But after calling them to get the broker there the item apparently has been delivered, but it cant be without clearance. They are not returning calls either.

BAD COMPANY DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM!! BUYER BEWARE (yes... yes, you said so before)

Once item has been cancelled we will be dealing with Randy over at Bouchillon... need information on anything for your 6.1 upgrades etc... call them! http://www.bouchillonperformance.com

I really hope you dont have mechanical issues... if there mechanics are as good as the rest of the team... trouble. We still may end up with the transmission depending on what the credit card company says but Im worried about it non the less.

Hey Brad, how is that trans working?  Does it shift like it is supposed to?  What I really need to know is did you have to cut any of your firewall to trans tunnel pinch weld to make the trans fit?  I am not sure if there is a difference between a cuda and challenger, but it would be hard to imagine there would be much difference.   I am doing my XV chassis bracing this week, and an wondering if I should weld the trans tunnel to the firewall from the inside, and then cut the pinch area off from the outside, and then reweld it again from the outside. Or do I just need to trim a little section and I can do that when I lower the car onto the engine/tans/k-frame?  Let me know what you found out.  I hope everything is working good for you.  I will have to wait until next year to find out.  Thanks man.  Jordan

I found as per Keislers instructions that you have to clear the pinch welds some at the 10 and 2 o'clock positions. A few well placed swipes with the hammer did the trick for me. It might be a good idea to weld the pinch welds from the inside?
I have about 120 miles on it now. The OD sure is nice! I still have play with the settings on the simple shift controller to get things where I like. I'm having concerns with the new Dana rear end as it's real hot after a 30 minute drive. I phoned both Cass and Strange and they both say it's normal during the break in? I'm not 100% convinced everything is alright? I'll wait till I get 500 miles on it then drop the rear end oil and take the cover off and have a look? :-\
I'm on pins and needles driving it waiting for something to blow up? Also don't like the sounds of the gear drive on the new 451 either. I might change it over to a chain over the winter?
Also tunning in the new carb as well, so all in all lots of things going on at the same time?

Wow. This thread has been an eye opener.

Have been going back on forth for  over a year about whether I'll convert to a manual OD 4 speed, or stick with the auto and go the Keisler OD setup like this. Glad I've had no money as I'd probably be right there with you all.

Really feel for you blokes. Such a shame that such a well known company such as this - that seemingly has their transmissions in every second car build you hear of - still can't get their sh*t together.

I put another 114 miles on it round trip . Playing with the controller settings and things are working better now. The OD sure is nice on the hwy! Still worried about the rear end .... still very hot! Got the carb tuned really close.  I got the stage 3 kit and with that you get a really deep tranny pan. Too deep IMO it's now the lowest part of the car. Hangs just a bit lower than the collector flanges. I might look into a different/shallower pan over the winter.
On a positive note , just figured out my gas mileage..... I'm getting 17MPG! I'm really happy with that!
I won a Nascar oil cooler off e-bay that I'm going to use as a tranny cooler. I used one before on my BB Buick project and used it as an engine oil cooler. They work REALLY well. I had to block off most of the airflow as it cooled the oil so much that it didn't register on the oil temp gauge.
It's one of these coolers. Fluidyne   DB-30816-26

That's a pretty nice figure considering. Any idea what you were getting before the OD upgrade?

I have a mildly upgraded 383 with 727 and 3.23 rear, and at the absolute best, I'd get 10mpg. Wouldn't be so bad except over half of my driving is Freeway driving. I really need on OD.

I don't know as I installed the new 451 , Auto OD. and new Dana all at the same time. I had a 440 and it got 10 MPG's

Just went true all the same issues
This is what I did with my shifter plate. Took a file and made a new detend for 3th gear
You could also make one for reverse
Might save someone some more trouble

Cool beans! :2thumbs:  How does it work? Does it ratchet Ok like stock?  What about between 4th and neutral? Does it flop easy between those two gears?
I haven't had time to mess with mine yet . I got as far as cutting a piece of material....to machine a new one. I went to the wrecker and got a 4speed auto shifter from a firebird to compare how they worked.

It seems to to be working good. You have to push the button in to put it in 4th
You can rachet the first 3 gears without  a problem. They all lock so you wont miss a shift
I still could put a detent for reverse but I dont think it matters from reverse to neutral.
The plate I modified was the plate keisler sent out.
