Well, here goes.  I am doing my shifter detent plate.  It seems like I got it together like the instructions say, but my shifter handle just flops between 2-3 gear?  Why doesnt it lock into the slap stick ratchet?  Do I need to cut a new detent like Bert?  Will the trans still shift if I don't put in a new detent?  I still dont have a throttle position sensor, bracket and starter bushing.  I will call tomorrow.  Are they still in business?  This is exactly what I didnt want to happen.  Grrrrrrrr

So Brad and Bert, since you have installed your transmissions, do you feel the trans shift through the shifter, or can you feel it shift on the side of the trans through the cable?  Do you really need the 2-3 detent or does the cable tension fix that.  I actually have 2 cad plated plates for the slap stick, so I just put a 2-3 detent in like Bert did. That makes me worry that I could be confusing the trans actuator position at the side input of the trans.  Does this make sense.  It is easy to change the detent plate in the shifter if it doesnt line up the actuator on the trans.  Let me know what you guys learned through installation experience and driving experience.  Thanks

I've been busy  ( lazy?) and haven't modified the shifter detent plate like Bert did yet. It's real easy to miss a shift though. You can feel it in the shifter cable (detent) but like I said real easy to miss a shift and go right into OD from 2nd.  I've got about 1800 miles on mine now, so far so good?

Thanks Brad.  I will leave my modified shift plate in for now to prevent the missed shifts.  I am moving along on the project.  I hope to put my engine on the k-frame on monday.  Then the trans on the engine.  I still have to finish the rolling rack to support the trans so I can wheel it under my car.  Hopefully I can have the engine and trans installed by the end of next week.  I need to run my wiring first it seems.  Thanks for the support.  This is a big expensive project and i dont want to screw up too much stuff.

You will find 2 square  bosses that come close to the floor/tunnel that you could cut off before installation.

I got my engine off the stand and onto my K-frame.  I have everything sitting on a rolling stand that I fabricated to hold it all together to roll under my cuda for installation.  Tonight I finished up some welding to support the 4l60 on the cart, and then moved on to installing the flywheel.  IT DOESNT FIT!!  I have an 8 hole crank, and there is always 1 or 2 holes that wont line up no matter how hard I tried in every position.  Keisler screwed around with this flywheel when I first received my trans.  It took them months to get me one.  They said they had to fix it "in house".  It is still not right.  I couldnt fit it when I got it because my motor was on the engine stand.  Now I have to sit and wait with everything ready to go in.  I wanted to have the k-member engine/trans in yet this week.  Now it just is going to sit until Keisler attempts to figure it out again.  I dropped them an email, and am planning on calling tomorrow.  I wonder if anybody will answer.  Should I send an email to Mr.Keisler himself to see if he can kick somebodies behind into getting something done right?  This totally sucks that I am only a couple days from my install, and it has to be Keisler that screws me up.  I know, I know, told ya so, right?

Oh I STILL remember the frustration your feeling!  :pullinghair:  If I remember right they ask you what crank flange you are running. In my case Hemi or wedge?  Funny this was about the time of year I finally got all the parts to assemble it. .....after the car was on Jack stands from May till August! :stomp:
Tell them to overnight a correct  flexplate! :dunno:

I left an email last night about my situation.  I called this morning to get things rolling.  I dealt with Ben.  He said "I got your email this morning.  I have the parts.  It should take three days to get to you, but since it is a long weekend, I will 2 day ship it to you so you have it before the weekend."  Further discussion puts the blame on quick time for essentially  drilling the flex plate backwards.  He said they have new ones drilled correctly.  The starter bushing and ARP bolts should be here friday with the flex plate.  I am not holding my breath, but he told me everything I wanted to hear.  I will let you guys know friday if its good.  Thanks for listening.

Well if they do what they say then that's pretty good! Everyone screws up, its how they remedy the situation that counts!

Well, the flywheel showed up on time, and fits!!!! So, I spent friday night installing parts until I was too tired to go on.  As of now the trans is on the engine, the starter is in (it took a little grinding of the block to make sure it was lined up), and the servo for the gear position is on too.  I am going to get new hardware for the trans crossmember since my stock stuff was sort of buggered up.  The TTI headers are hung too.  Hopefully by monday I make a little time to put the carbs, fuel line, spark plug wires and a few misc parts on the block, and roll it under the car for installation.  I have time next week to hook stuff up and start on the rear end and its relocation brackets.  Finally moving along.  Long way to go.
