From Georgia - Just got a 72 Cuda 340 4 speed 6 pack
« on: October 24, 2011 - 01:01:56 AM »
I have been lurking around for a while but since I just won a auction for my dream car I thought I would introduce myself as I will be on here asking quite alot I am sure.
Here is the listing:
This is a very nice, fully restored real 1972 340, 4-spd Cuda, not a converted Barracuda.  It has a nonmatching 1971 340 engine with a real 340 sixpac setup from an AAR Cuda.  The intake and air cleaner are original.  I cannot guarantee the originality of the carbs.  The car has new quarters, paint, seat covers, carpeting, headliner etc.  The dash is perfect with no cracks.  The frame rails, floors, trunk pan are all excellent.  It has new tires on painted 15" wheels.  The car runs beautiful and can be driven anywhere.  The fender tag is missing, but a very nice original build sheet was there.  I also have an old title from 1976 to help document the owner history.  The Plum Crazy paint is of a very nice driver quality.  This car is very tight and other than the shifter handle doesn't have a rattle anywhere.  It is not a super show car, but would make a great car for any collection.  You would be hard pressed to build this car if somebody gave it to you for what I am willing to sell it for.

I won for 18102.00 plus need to ship it to Georgia from Mass. I think I did ok for a 340 4 speed 6 pack.

First question I am planning to have it shipped with Direct Express Auto Transport, they quoted me 1184.00 and have good reviews and rated with BBB with an A+ rating. Any opinions?

Second is does anyone have any firsthand knowledge with this car?

My goal is to convert to probably XV level II front and rear suspension, someones 4 wheel disc then eventually probably a modern hemi and 6 speed. Maybe change to Panther Pink as that has been my dream for 25 years now. Minimum paint changes will include blacked out tail panel, hood, fender tops like AAR, grille, front spoiler and all chrome - bumpers and trim.

Cool car, and probably the most popular color. 6 pack and a 4 speed too!
Not that it means much, but they only made the AAR cudas in 1970. Will you be selling that 340-6 engine sometime later? If you dont have a big block that is the engine to have.
Cant wait to see more pictures. Welcome. You'll find lots of great advice and company here.

Hi Dave-
Welcome to CC.Com, glad you joined.
I must say, that’s one sweet Cuda you have.  For $18K, I think you made an excellent purchase; you can’t build it for that cost.
I’ve always been a fan of Plum Crazy; I like the original longitudinal stripe as well.
Oh, and having a 340 6-Pak, that’s awesome! :ylsuper:

Thanks for sharing and looking forward to your future mods
Ron

Nice ride!

I wonder if the AAR Cuda is still out there somewhere?  Might be interesting to get the numbers and look.

Really nice car. Mine is also missing the fender tag. Will be very hard to research the history.

Have fun driving it.

I agree I could not even come close to building one like this for even close to the 18k from the rust buckets that seem to mostly be left out there awaiting a redo. I wanted a 71 but since it was mainly because of the grille/headlights that is easy enough to accomplish should I decide to. lots of plans to start next year, I will drive it for a while first then complete teardown for upgraded suspension, steering and brakes, hopefully an aluminum Hemi and 6 speed and color change - toss up between Panther Pink (Moulin Rouge), which has been the main choice of color the entire time I have wanted one and flat black which is hard to beat. All black chrome - bumpers, trim...

Great looking car!  Awesome you have a 6 pack and 4 speed!

Just curious, where in Mass. was this car?  :clueless:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Phil in New England-Massachusetts  Always thank God for what you have!
