Cowl Induction Hood for 'Cuda??!?!?!?
« on: October 29, 2011 - 12:32:44 PM »
Theres a company in FL, U.S. Body Scource that has built a 4 inch cowl ind hood for us. Im looking to find anyone who has or know someone who has one of these to see what it actually looks like on car, before dropping the $$. After shreding the input and cluster drive teeth I decided to step up from the 440 dual plane to my 500 single plane and have had to raise the scoop on the AAR hood 2 inches but then stumbled across this new hood. Any help is greatly appreciated. Bob

WOW!! Thats what I like FAST response. Thx allot for those pics Tor, They look taller than 4" but thats OK. I think it gives a whole new look to the car (duh!) I think the 4" mouth on the raised AAR will have to give way to this. Id hate to loose a scoop at 190+ and ruin everyone elses day.
Camaro?? whats that??

On our drag cudas we're pretty limited on hoods. I run a six pack style hood on my street radial car but if I were to go to a tunnel ram even that would be too short. I ran a shaker setup on one of my cudas but I was limited to a stock height intake and a carb with no spacers. Not good for going fast. The only other choice other than the cowl is to run a modified six pack hood. A few years back I saw a high rise AAR hood that looked pretty good but it didn't look like it would flow much air which is another area where the cowl hood works well.

OK, OK, First off I know its a "crapmaro" look. But I dont think a 4" raised AAR scoop is gonna function properly at the sustained speeds I run. 2" was fine at 185. It (seemingly) would create drag also (bad thing). Like "supercuda" said in a post on air induction... (paraphrased)  you dont see a whole lot of forward facing scoops in NASCAR SOOOO the cowl is my only option, (as far as Ive found) Im not into ductwork off the front end.  Besides I can throw on the 4" AAR after a race and run it in town. Sometimes somethings are just "a necessary evil".

I understand at those speeds aerodynamics are important but why not block off the small opening in the AAR style hood and still have the cowl opening to bring in the air?
