1974 'Cuda value
« on: November 01, 2011 - 12:43:55 PM »
I know how tough it is to determine a value for a car sight unseen but if someone could help me with a price range it would be great. I have a 1974 'Cuda that I bought 8 years ago and restored.  It s not a numbers-matching car; it has a 1971 forged-crank 340 motor bored 030 over, Holley 750, complete TTI exhaust (including headers), McLeod clutch, 5-speed Tremec, 8 3/4 limited-slip diif, new tires, new brakes, new ball joints. The interior is all new (headliner, seats, carpet), Blaupunkt stereo/speakers, new windshield, new vinyl top. I did the paint myself; I used to do bodywork but granted that was some 30 years ago so I will be the first to admit it is not a showcar but a nice daily driver.

Welcome aboard here.

Just going by your description, I'll throw 15K to 20K out there. But it could be worth a little more or a little less without seeing the car first hand. If you have pictures to post, please do it. We are full of opinions here.   :grinyes:  If you can't figure out how to post pictures, you can E-Mail them to me, and I'll do it for you.  MEKrunner@aol.com

Maybe $18k.

What's really going to hold it back is the engine compartment not painted.   Automatic trans I assume?

I'd find a date-coded 360 block to go with the car.

Looks like a 5 speed Tremec tranny.

$15-20 like Mike mentioned sounds fair.

Just my  :2cents: but a set of 15" or larger rims would make that car look real nice and IMO sell better.  I'm not a big fan of the 14" Rally rims (14" Magnums are ok in my book) unless you want the stock look.  A stripe wouldn't hurt the sale either for a small investment.  :2cents:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Thanks for the feedback and a special thanks to Mike for his help and for posting the pics.

Yes, it is a 5-speed Tremec (Keisler).

Good point about the tires, I thought about 15" rims the day after I bought the new 14" tires.

I'd find a date-coded 360 block to go with the car.

I think this could go either way. If your buyer is a numbers person then the 360 might help. If your buyer wants a driver, then the 71 forged crank 340 is a much more valuable motor.
