Did I ever say I HATE HEADERS?????
« on: January 15, 2005 - 08:39:32 PM »
Just got done getting my D**n headers off.  Not sure what kind they are but they sure were a pain in the butt for me today.  It looks like my TTI's will go in much easier than the one I just took off. I hope to paint my motor tomorrow, then clean and paint some under the hood odds and ends.  Hopefully I will have everything all back together and the new exhaust sytem installed in a few days.   :burnout:   :driving:

I hear ya APRIL...I have steered clear of headers for the last 20 yrs or so because of leaks and problems like your having.. Although I'm seriously thinking of using TTI's on my white Chally..Have heard all good so far..  Let us know how they work out. :D

The TTI hemi headers are nice, and so are the Big Block ones. They ain't cheap, but you pay for what you get.

Glad you're making progress!
pics would sure be nice. I am not looking forward to replacing a header gasket in the BB Swinger. Think I will check into those copper ones. Anybody have any good or bad stories here?

JS27NOB,
I used a set of gaskets made by Percy. I got them from Jegs's. They are made of a few layers of aluminum, and are re-usable. You can feel them crush as you tighten the bolts, so you know you have a tight fit. I love em. I think they were only $20, or so.

SUMMIT MAKES THE COPPER HEADER AND COLLECTOR GASKETS FOR MOPAR IN 2 SIZES. THEY WORK EXCELLENT. AS FAR AS HEADERS, I WILL TKAE OUT THE MOTOR AND THEN CHANGE THE HEADERS. ITS MUCH EASIER FOR ME.  ESPECIALLY WITH POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. CAN YOU POSE TTI'S IN WITH OUT JACKING UP THE MOTOR?

The directions that came with the TTI headers say that you will have to jack up the drivers side to get them in, but i didn't have to jack up that side to get the old (bulkier) headers out.  I will let you know when I install them if I had to jack it up or not.

April  I just installed my TTI header not very long ago and I did have to raise the engine.  I raised it for the passenger side but I was lucky and was able it squeeze it in from the top on the drivers side! I would plan on raising it though.

Yeah, I had to jack up the passenger side as well.  That was a pain, (but not that bad)
