I sent my pic to you for car of the month you can use that    one for my entry

Hi, Michele. We actually had a good slate for voting, but I'm trying to help everyone who wants to participate next year have a strategy. You were actually part of the reason I started this thread; I loved your shot, and I felt bad that you couldn't get a full size version of it from the photographer.

Sorry, my car was already in once.

Just for the record  there's actually no prohibition against a car appearing in successive years. I think it was debated at one point, if I recall correctly, but it was never adopted as a rule. Some folks have opted to not enter their cars in ensuing years after they've won a slot, which is no problem, but all winners are eligible to compete again, with a different shot.

I don't mean this to be taken the wrong way and its obviously only right that the calendar cars are picked by the members here, but as an owner of an 'ordinary' 73 Barracuda I don't think its ever going to win a beauty contest against TA's, AARs, Hemi & Six Pack shaker cars, convertibles, etc. etc.  I've actually been so busy with work I haven't even seen or voted on the cars for this years calendar, but I know almost none of the later year cars I voted on got in the calendar last year.  Perhaps if cars that make the calendar aren't eligible again for 2 or 3 years others would naturally make it into the calendar voting.  Again, my biggest reason for not even noticing this year is my busy shedule with work & family, but having more 'ordinary' cars in the mix might give some of us hope.  That said, this years calendar could be full of exactly these kinds of cars an in that case, never mind..... :dupe:

Hey, Jim. I'm not offended at all; I asked for feedback, and you gave it politely. I hope nobody else is offended either.

A whole bunch of ideas in your post, so let me try to separate them out.

1) TAs, AARs and Hemis and shakers do get a lot of attention, you're right. But I think that both of the years in which I've been involved have had some reasonable number of late-models chosen as well. I would hazard a guess that most people are picked beautiful shots first, and then the cars they like second. Take a look at FentmMax's (I may have spelled that wrong) white, later year Challenger, and Goodys Cuda.

2) A few members volunteered to not enter this year after winning spots last year. I have mixed feelings about that. It was very gentlemanly for them to do so. On the other hand, I worry about diminishing the number of quality shots we get, but frankly, if anything, I think the quality of shots this year was a little better than last year, so my concern may not be warranted.

3) I have a 73, and once I get paint and body complete, I'll have no qualms about submitting it, and I'll take my chances. Again, I think that if the quality of the shot is good, it'll stand a fair chance.

4) Lots of folks expressed the notion that they didn't think their cars were good enough to warrant a spot. I've seen a lot of these cars at Carlisle, and some of them are indeed 20 footers in person, but you'd be surprised what a camera and lens will hide.

So, short form later years still get respect, it may be an idea to have folks sit out a year (everybody feel free to comment), and even if you think you car isn't good enough, a good shot will make it a contender.

Thanks for taking my feedback in the spirit it was intended!  My Barracuda definitely looks better from a distance but you're right I need to get it ready to submit it for a future calendar! Who knows, there may be an unknown horde of mist green Barracuda fans!

Suggestion .... some of you guys with nicer cars should get together and do a dual shoot.
Two cars on the same page.

The contrasting colors, cars etc might be a nice look

I have two cars to submit. I have a current shot of mine, and the Cuda I did for my boss, his just hit May Mopar Muscle so I can now publicly Display my own pictures I took at the same photo shoot almaost a year ago.

Might be a good idea for participation to having longer submission lead times.

By lead times, do you mean the time frame in which people can submit a shot? That's pretty open. There is an official "kickoff" but that's just for the publicity more than anything else. People can always send me shots, and I had three submissions last year before submissions "officially opened."
