Adjustable Strut Rods....Which ones to get?
« on: November 07, 2011 - 11:06:51 PM »
I am looking to upgrade my strut rods to one of the heim joint versions on the market; Hotchkis, RMS or CAP. Is one brand superior to the others or are they all basically the same? Also I am going to cut my stockers to get them out and would rather not have to disassemble my LCA to install the new ones. Bill at RMS says his can be installed without doing so. Is this true? And is it also true of the other 2; Hotchkis and CAP?

If I remember correctly, you have to move the lower back a bit to take the stock ones off...unless you cut them, anyway.

The Hotchkis units come apart at the swivel so I would think you could assemble them that way, but, it may be tight.  I used them, but, I moved the arms back a bit.

I have the CAP rods. You can install without removing the LCA. I have not driven with them installed so can't say how they are. I do expect a little more noise as you eliminate the bushings when you use these. They are a nice looking piece.
